Opening of the Reichenhainer Mühlberg playground
Invitation to the photo session: Thursday, 1 October, 10 am,
Tomorrow, Thursday 1 October at 10 a.m., Mayor Michael Stötzer will open the Reichenhainer Mühlberg playground. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to this event.
The facility has been open for use since the beginning of April. Construction began at the beginning of December 2019 at a cost of around 55,000 euros.
A climbing combination was installed as new play equipment. This invites children to let off steam with several climbing walls, a spider's web, a 45-degree ramp with a retaining rope and a wall bars, among other things. The existing play equipment had previously been dismantled. In addition, fall protection gravel was installed on the playground, a lawn was laid and shrubs were planted. The work was carried out by the Chemnitz-based company Liebscher & Partner.
The playground was built in 1998. After more than 20 years, it was largely worn out, so the playground had to be renovated in 2019/2020.
During this construction work, a new sweet chestnut tree was also planted, which was donated by a private individual. Sweet chestnuts (Castanea sativa) give Reichenhain - "Der reiche Hayn" - its name. An old sweet chestnut tree stands as a natural monument on Jägerschlösschenstraße.
The Parks Department therefore plants sweet chestnuts in Reichenhain wherever possible (primary school, Eichlerstraße) in order to continue the tradition. For example at the Eicherlerstraße primary school.
