Opening of the pedestrian tunnel "Bazillenröhre"
The tunnel at the main railway station, the so-called Bazillenröhre, will be reopened for use this afternoon by 3 p.m. at the latest. Before that, the formwork from the tunnel entrance will be removed by the municipal building yard. The pedestrian tunnel connects Mauerstraße with Dresdner Straße and runs underneath the main railway station.
The renovation of the tunnel began on 6 April this year. The old paint and graffiti were removed by sandblasting and minor repairs were carried out on the walls and floor. The ceiling was also painted.
It will be completed as an art object by the end of the year in consultation with the artist.
