Opening of the Kalkstraße motorway access road to Oberfrohnaer Straße
Press invitation for Tuesday, 25 October, 1 p.m., on Kalkstraße after the Rottluff junction (access via Limbacher Straße)
The construction work to extend the Kalkstraße motorway feeder road to Oberfrohnaer Straße has been completed. Mayor Ludwig will open the new road to traffic next Tuesday, 25 October 2016 at 1 pm. Media representatives are cordially invited to this opening.
The extension of the motorway feeder road will create an additional supra-regional connection to the inner-city road network. The extension of the Kalkstraße feeder road to Oberfrohnaer Straße is part of the traffic development plan and is part of the planned road core network.
Over the past 21 months, the two-lane connection from Kalkstraße to Oberfrohnaer Straße has been created over a length of 900 metres, thus establishing a direct link from Rabenstein to the A72 motorway.
The connection of Oberfrohnaer Straße to the motorway feeder road is an essential prerequisite for better access to the western areas of the city. This connection will relieve traffic congestion in the city centre and in the residential areas of Rottluff and Rabenstein.
As part of the construction project, a 7 metre wide road with footpaths and cycle paths, a rainwater retention basin and a bridge over Harthweg were built. Two noise barriers and noise protection walls were realised for noise protection. The new junction with Oberfrohnaer Straße is regulated by a new traffic light system.
The construction measures were completed on schedule and realised within the planned budget. The construction costs totalled 2.6 million euros. The Free State of Saxony supported this project with 75 per cent of the eligible costs. The construction of the bridge over the Harthweg was subsidised with 85 percent. Vogtländische Straßen-, Tief- und Rohrleitungsbau GmbH from Rodewisch was commissioned with the realisation of the construction project.
In addition to relieving traffic congestion in the residential areas, the new link road will also lead to a relevant improvement in commercial development in the vicinity of the motorway junction. The excellent connection to the supra-regional and urban transport network provides the best conditions for the development of commercial areas. At the same time, the new road has created the conditions for the development of the future Rabenstein-Ost industrial estate. The connections to Kalkstraße and the media connections were established and the rainwater retention of a partial area has already been realised.
On the other hand, the Rottluff-West industrial estate on Kalkstrasse has already been developed during the road construction measures for the motorway feeder road. This is the area between Rottluffer Strasse and Kalkstrasse on the site of the former nursery.
Commercial plots from 3,000 square metres are available here on around ten hectares.
The connection between the industrial estate and Kalkstrasse is in the form of a spur road with a turning circle. All necessary media were laid in the 300 metre long access road. This measure was also realised on time and within budget. HSE Bau GmbH from Glauchau was commissioned with the work.
The construction costs for this measure totalled around 1.3 million euros. This project received 85 per cent funding from the federal and state governments as part of the joint task "Improvement of the regional economic structure".
