Opening of the Hölderlinstraße and Blücherplatz playgrounds

Invitation to photo sessions: 1 July, 9 a.m. and 2 July, 10 a.m.

On Thursday, 1 July 2021 at 9 a.m., Peter Börner, Head of the Parks Department, will hand over the renovated Hölderlinstraße playground to the city's children and youth officer and representatives of the Citizens' Platform North.

The planning was carried out by the landscape architecture firm Bellis Landschaftsplanung in October 2020. The construction work, carried out by Massiv- und Industriebau GmbH, began on 15 March and lasted around three months. Acceptance will take place tomorrow, Thursday 1 July 2021.

A competition was organised for the design of the playground. As a result, a design by the play equipment company Kompan GmbH was realised. It is a four-tower play area with a hanging track, double swing and rotating element (spinner). Due to the central location of the play equipment, the site was also completely refurbished. The costs therefore totalled around 30,000 euros for the play equipment and 70,000 euros for the landscaping and square design.

The opening of the Blücherplatz playground by Mayor Michael Stötzer will take place on Friday, 2 July 2021 at 10 am. Local residents and children from the nearby "Rüsselchen" daycare centre are cordially invited. Construction work began on 3 March 2021 and was accepted on 24 June 2021. Maintenance services for the shrubs have been contractually agreed with the construction company until 2022.

A new climbing tower with lots of opportunities to move and play, a spring rocker and a sandpit are the main elements of the playground. There are also four benches to sit on. The costs totalled 85,000 euros. The planning was carried out by planners from the Parks Department and the construction was carried out by Asphaltbau Chemnitz ABC Tief- & Straßenbau GmbH

The Blücherplatz playground is a popular attraction in the Luther neighbourhood. A dedicated playground patron has been looking after the site for years. The long-planned refurbishment has now been successfully realised. The landscaping work for the Blücherplatz playground renovation and redesign project in the Luther neighbourhood has been completed in full, on schedule and on time.

Representatives of the media are cordially invited to both events.
