Opening of the exhibition "Church environmental groups in Karl-Marx-Stadt"

To mark the opening of the exhibition "Church Environmental Groups in Karl-Marx-Stadt", an author reading with Joachim Krause will take place on 17 April 2015 at 6 pm at the Environmental Centre.
Krause will read from "Die Verschiebung des Horizonts - eine Spurensuche im Terminkalender", a memoir of the history of the GDR environmental movement with a little reflection on the reunification period and some "Saxon church history of a different kind".
The pension notice has long since arrived. The tidying, sifting and throwing away begins. Joachim Krause rummages through his manuscripts and long-forgotten notes.
For almost 30 years, the qualified chemist and theologian Joachim Krause worked as a "representative for faith, science and the environment" for the regional church in Saxony. The natural scientist's spectrum ranged from forest dieback in the GDR, nuclear energy, climate change and alternative energies to stem cell research, organ donation and the dignity of dying.
"Farewell party. Pension notification. Is this the beginning of great freedom or great emptiness?" asks the 68-year-old at the beginning of his hot-off-the-press book "Die Verschiebung des Horizonts - eine Spurensuche im Terminkalender".
Joachim Krause
Born in Ehrenhain in Thuringia in 1946, grew up in the village of Schönberg in western Saxony from 1953, graduated from high school in Meerane in 1965, studied at the Technical University of Dresden, graduated as a chemist in 1970, worked as a research assistant at an institute for materials and environmental protection from 1970 to 1982.r materials and environmental protection at an institute in Dresden, lyricist for the GDR rock music groups "Lift", "Panta Rhei", "Klaus Lenz", "Puhdys" and others.a., from 1978 active in the church environmental movement in the GDR, 1979 to 1982 correspondence course in theology, from 1982 to 2010 "Commissioner for Faith, Science and the Environment" in the Protestant Church in Saxony. Joachim Krause is married and has four children.

The exhibition "Church environmental groups in Karl-Marx-Stadt" is open to the public from 17 April to
28 August 2015 at the Environmental Centre, Henriettenstraße 5. Pictures and documents from church environmental groups in Karl-Marx-Stadt are on display.
Guided tours for school classes and groups are possible by appointment (Tel.0371 / 488-6177). It will also be possible to borrow the exhibition from September. The exhibition was funded by the Free State of Saxony.
