Opening of the Dittersdorfer Straße sports hall complex

Press invitation: Monday, 21 September, 4.30 pm

On Monday, 21 September at 4.30 pm, Mayor Ralph Burghart will officially open the renovated sports hall complex Dittersdorfer 146 a and 146 b together with the future users. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to this event.

This marks the end of a 14-month construction period. The two halls were built in 1978. Since then, the sports halls have not undergone any major repairs or energy-efficient refurbishment. The refurbishment was urgently needed in order to reduce energy consumption and thus fulfil the energy requirements. Inside, the training facilities were brought up to a modern and up-to-date standard. The sports floor in the halls was renewed in the areas where water damage had occurred. The sanitary and changing areas were also refurbished. In addition, a disabled toilet was installed at Dittersdorfer Straße 64a.

The sports halls were fitted with a suspended ball-proof ceiling construction and acoustically effective wall panelling. As part of the energy-efficient refurbishment, the window system, the roof insulation including the roof covering, the insulation of the façade, the heating and ventilation installation and the electrical installation, including the entire lighting system, were renewed.

In addition to the refurbishment of the halls, the outdoor area was given new paths and green spaces, the car park area was renewed and a new access road from Dittersdorfer Straße was created. Barrier-free access was also created.

The sports hall at Dittersdorfer Straße 146 a will be used by the Ringerclub Chemnitz e.V. wrestling club. The sports hall at Dittersdorfer Straße 146 b will be used by the following users: gruuna Schule gGmbH Freie Waldorfschule, Handballverband Sachsen, ASG - Anerkannte Schulgesellschaft mbH, Stadtsportbund, SG Adelsberg, Sächsische Sozialakademie gemeinnützige GmbH, Chemnitzer Freizeit- und Wohngebietssportverein and Tischtennis-Sportverein 1950 e.V.

The costs for the refurbishment amount to around 2.4 million euros, including around 876,000 euros in subsidies. This measure is co-financed with tax revenue on the basis of the budget approved by the members of the Saxon state parliament.
