Opening of the Chemnitz exhibition for the 2015 Youth Art Triennial of the Saxon-Bavarian City Network
The City of Chemnitz invites you to the opening of the exhibition with the prize-winning works and works by the Chemnitz participants of the 2015 Youth Art Triennial of the Saxon-Bavarian City Network on Thursday, 3 September 2015 at 4 pm in the exhibition room on the ground floor of the City Hall.
The artworks on display represent an excerpt from the contributions to the major competition show, which was successfully presented in Bayreuth at the beginning of this year.
The 8th competition for young artists aged between 14 and 25 from the city network area was also characterised by its high quality and variety of themes.
The subsequent travelling exhibition of the prize-winning works, which has now become a fine tradition among the city network partners Chemnitz, Zwickau, Plauen, Hof and Bayreuth, is now making a stop in Chemnitz and differs somewhat from the other exhibition stops:
For the first time, the exhibition contributions of the Chemnitz participants in the JugendKunstTriennale will be presented alongside the prize-winning works. This means that not only the works of the 18 winners of the 2015 JugendKunstTriennale - including seven young artists from Chemnitz - will be on display, but also those of a further 22 young people from the city of Chemnitz.
Pupils are involved in the design and construction of the Chemnitz exhibition under the leadership of Jürgen Pinkert, art advisor at grammar schools and lecturer at the Chemnitz Teacher Training Centre.tte Chemnitz, students from the year 12 art courses at Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff-Gymnasium, young women who are artists themselves and some of whom took part in the JugendKunstTriennale.
The exhibition will be opened by Ferenc Csák, Head of the newly formed Cultural Department of the City of Chemnitz, and by graduate designer Peggy Albrecht, who was a member of the jury for this year's JugendKunstTriennale für Chemnitz.
The exhibition can be visited until 25 September 2015 during the above-mentioned opening hours in the exhibition room on the ground floor of the town hall. Admission is free.
