Opening of emergency paramedic training centre
Invitation to the opening and open day, 29 September, 10 a.m. Fire and Rescue Station II
On Saturday, 29 September at 10 a.m., Mayor Sven Schulze will open the new training centre for emergency paramedics at Fire and Rescue Station II (Wilhelm-Weber-Straße 15). The centre was created in just six months for training to become an emergency paramedic at Chemnitz City Council.
With its training rooms, the training centre offers ideal conditions for acquiring the necessary specialist knowledge and skills during the three-year training course. Modern technical equipment and medical training materials are used to practise life-saving emergency measures. A special feature is the purpose-built training ambulance, a 1-to-1 replica of a Chemnitz ambulance with the appropriate equipment. Here, the trainees can deepen their practical and theoretical knowledge under realistic conditions.
In 2014, the new job profile of emergency paramedic replaced training as a paramedic as the highest non-medical qualification in the rescue service. The requirements in terms of content and scope of teaching have increased significantly. The aim of the new training profile is for emergency paramedics to be able to care for patients independently, even without an emergency doctor. On 1 September 2018, three trainees will begin their training as emergency paramedics in the city administration. They will learn how to carry out emergency medical procedures, transport patients and clean and disinfect vehicles, materials and equipment.
Open day at fire and rescue station II
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the new construction of Fire and Rescue Station II, the Chemnitz Fire Department invites you to an open day on 29 September. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., various activities will take place at Wilhelm-Weber-Straße 15, accompanied by a musical programme. Admission is free.
In addition to an exhibition of fire-fighting equipment, information about the work of the fire brigade and guided tours of the building, visitors will be able to see the youth fire brigade in action during demonstrations. In addition, bestselling author and emergency paramedic Horst Heckendorn will read from his book and recite true stories from the life of a paramedic at 2 pm.
