Opening of Chemnitz sports halls from 18 May

From Monday 18 May, the municipal sports and gymnasiums will reopen for sports and training activities. This means that sports activities for popular and competitive sports can start again in the municipal sports centres. Last week, the sports office held a dialogue with the city sports association and Chemnitz clubs from a wide range of sports. Subject to the application of hygiene and distancing rules, sport will be possible again not only in the open spaces but also in the gyms.

Please note the following:

  • The sports halls/rooms will be used without public access, i.e. without parents or grandparents.
  • Changing and sanitary areas will be open; minimum distances must be observed (for each sports facility there is a specific definition of the number of people who are allowed to enter the premises at the same time - information will be posted on site).
  • The number of athletes permitted depends on the size of the sports area and the respective sport; training sessions with a team game character are not permitted (an information sheet refers to the DOSB homepage, where numerous sports federations have posted corresponding regulations for their sports: Link to sport-specific transitional rules)

The hygiene rules are displayed centrally in the sports facilities and also published on the homepage of the Chemnitz City Sports Association.

Concrete specifications concerning the property are displayed in the respective rooms.

Hours of use:

All times of use for clubs and other users apply, as confirmed by notice before the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

Excluded from the opening are school gyms where the halls are required for normal school operations or for the storage of tables and chairs. (The relevant users will be informed by the sports office).
