Opening of Chemnitz City Library from 12 April for borrowing and returning media

Subject to the development of the infection situation, the facilities of the Chemnitz City Library will open from Monday, 12 April. No daily negative rapid or self-test and no appointment reservation is necessary for the visit.

For the time being, the libraries will only be open to a limited extent for borrowing and returning media. No late fees will be charged until 1 May 2021. It is not possible to use the library rooms as a place to stay, work and study or for leisure activities.


The following hygiene measures are implemented in our facilities and we ask that they be strictly adhered to:

  • Wearing a medical face mask is mandatory.
  • When entering the library, every customer is asked to wash or sanitise their hands.
  • The library card must be carried. Registration is possible again.
  • One disinfected basket per customer or family will be handed out.
  • The distance markings on the floors must be observed.
  • Visits to the library must be kept to a minimum (approx. 20 minutes per user).
  • Only a limited number of people are permitted in the facilities.

Tuesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Wednesday 2 to 6 p.m.

Friday 10 am to 6 pm
Saturday 10 am to 2 pm


Vita Centre District Library:
Monday 10 am to 3 pm
Thursday 10 am to 5 pm


Yorck Centre District Library:
Tuesday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Friday 10 am to 5 pm


Einsiedel District Library:
Tuesday 10 am to 12 noon / 1 pm to 6 pm


Wittgensdorf District Library:
Friday 10 am to 12 noon / 1 pm to 5 pm


Röhrsdorf Lending Centre:
Thursday 12 to 4 pm


Klaffenbach circulation desk:
1st and 3rd Monday of the month 5 to 7 p.m.
