Opening hours of the indoor pools published for the outdoor pool season
Chemnitz indoor pools can only be used to a limited extent
At its meeting today, the school and sports committee provided information on the opening times of the municipal indoor and outdoor pools this year. The season for the outdoor pools in Bernsdorf and Einsiedel is due to start on 14 May. The outdoor pools in Gablenz and Wittgensdorf will follow a week later, on 21 May.
The outdoor pool season is used every year for maintenance and repair work in the indoor pools and for major construction work. These have an impact on the opening times. These can be found in the appendix. In addition to school swimming and club sports, public swimming also takes priority when allocating indoor pool times. During the outdoor swimming pool season, the Bernsdorf indoor swimming pool is available for guests and training sessions for clubs.
Municipal swimming pool / third construction phase Renovation of technical building equipment
Following the renovation of the ventilation systems in 2013/2014, the listed building complex will require further refurbishment of the technical building equipment with the following services: Renewal of water and waste water systems, renewal of the domestic water connection, installation of a new heat transfer station, complete renewal of the heat exchangers for the pool reheating systems in the 50-metre and 25-metre halls, decentralised drinking water heating for the shower areas, use of the solar systems with integration into the heating network for the entire building. Fire protection will also be further improved. This construction measure is intended to optimise the operation of the municipal swimming pool and reduce operating costs. The costs amount to around 2.5 million euros. Work is scheduled to begin at the end of April 2016. Completion is planned for September 2016.
Opening hours:
As large parts of the central operating technology in the basement of the Chemnitz municipal pool will be replaced over the summer months, all areas of the municipal pool will be affected accordingly and will reopen in stages. The construction process has already been optimised so that the closure period has been limited to the maximum possible in order to minimise downtime in the area of compulsory school swimming. This is the realisation of a construction project that had already been planned for the long term.
Gablenz indoor swimming pool
The building is undergoing extensive refurbishment. In addition to the renewal of the water and ventilation technology, this includes the structural realisation of the fire protection concept and the necessary renovation of the swimming pool.
Opening hours:
The Gablenz indoor pool will have to remain closed for this planned refurbishment from the end of June 2016 until probably September 2017.
Indoor swimming pool on Südring
This year, the sanitary facilities in the men's area as well as the staff toilet and the disabled toilet are to be completely renovated. It is also planned to complete the refurbishment of the indoor pool's cold and hot water system, which began in 2015, this year.
Opening hours:
The indoor swimming pool at Südring will be closed from the end of June to the end of August 2016.
