Opening hours indoor and outdoor pools 2019
Outdoor pool season starts on 11 and 18 May
At its meeting yesterday, the school and sports committee provided information about the opening times of the municipal indoor and outdoor swimming pools this year. The season for the outdoor pools in Gablenz and Bernsdorf will begin on Saturday, 11 May. The outdoor pools in Wittgensdorf and Einsiedel will follow a week later, on Saturday 18 May.
In the main season, i.e. during the school holidays, the outdoor pools are open from 10 am to 8 pm. In the low season from 11 am to 6 pm. If the weather is exceptionally fine, the pools may stay open longer in the evening in the low season. The pool may also open earlier in the morning. This decision is made by the pool staff, depending on the weather conditions and operational readiness.
During the outdoor pool season in the school holidays, maintenance and repair work is carried out in the indoor pools, as is the case every year. Their annual closing times are preferably used for this purpose.

City swimming pool (50-metre hall): 8 to 28 July
City swimming pool (25 metre hall): 29 July to 18 August
City pool (sauna): 10 June to 15 September

Gablenz indoor swimming pool: 24 June to 18 August

During the eight-week closure period, the companies carrying out the construction work will be given the opportunity to carry out follow-up work to refurbish the indoor swimming pool.
School swimming
The city of Chemnitz is obliged to guarantee swimming lessons for schools. To this end, the opening and closing times of the indoor swimming pools for 2019 were discussed and agreed in advance with the Saxon Education Agency and the school swimming centre.
Swimming clubs
To support the city's swimming clubs, which are restricted in their competition preparation due to the summer closing times of the indoor pools, and for the swimmers, who arewho would also like to use an indoor pool during the summer school holidays, special opening times will also be offered in the municipal pool for public use and training in 2019. As things stand at present, the 50-metre hall will be used first, followed by the 25-metre hall from 17 July.
Swimming on public holidays
The municipal pool also offers the opportunity to go swimming on public holidays and special closing days. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on all public holidays, including Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, the pool and sauna are open to the public. This offer has proved its worth in recent years.
