Opening and closing times of the municipal cultural and leisure facilities at the turn of the year
The Chemnitz City Library , including the central library in the TIETZ and the district libraries, is open between the public holidays at the respective regular times. It will be closed on 24/25/26 and 31 December and 1 January.
The adult education centre is closed from 21 to 30 December. The last opening day before the Christmas closing time is Tuesday, 20 December. The VHS will be open again from 2 January.
The Museum of Natural History is open regularly between the holidays. It is closed on 24 and 31 December. On 25/26 December and 1 January it will be open from 10 am to 6 pm.
The Municipal Music School is closed from 22 to 30 December. It will reopen regularly from 2 January 2023.
The city archive is closed from 24 December to 6 January. Open again from 7 January.
Chemnitz Zoo and the Oberrabenstein Wildlife Park have shortened opening hours on 24 and 31 December. The zoo is open from 9 am to 2 pm, last admission at 1 pm. The wildlife park is open from 8 am to 2 pm, last admission is also 1 pm.
On all other days between the public holidays as well as on 25/26 December and 1 January, the zoo is open as normal.
The art collections on Theaterplatz, the Gunzenhauser Museum and the Schloßbergmuseum are open regularly between the public holidays. They are closed on 24 and 31 December. They will be open on 25/26 December and 1 January.
The Henry van de Velde Museum is open between the public holidays on 29 and 30 December and on 25 December and 1 January, and closed on 24/26 and 31 December.
The indoor swimming pools of the city of Chemnitz are open between the public holidays as follows:
Stadtbad Chemnitz is open on 24/25/26 and 31 December/1 January from 9am to 3pm, on 27 December from 2.30pm to 10pm and on 28/29/30 December from 6am to 10pm.
The Gablenz indoor swimming pool is open on 27/28 December from 10 am to 5 pm.
The indoor swimming pool "Am Südring" is open on 29/30 December from 10 am to 5 pm.
