Opening and closing times of municipal cultural and leisure facilities at the turn of the year
City Library
- The Central Library in the TIETZ is open between the public holidays during the regular opening hours. It is closed on 24, 25 and 26 December and 31 December and 1 January.
- The district library in the Vita Centre is open between the public holidays during the regular opening hours. Closed on 24, 25 and 26 December and from 30 December to 2 January
- The district library in the Yorck-Center is closed from 23 to 27 December. It will be open regularly between the public holidays. Closed from 30 December to 1 January
- The Einsiedel district library is closed on Tuesday 26 December. It will be open as normal on Tuesday 2 January.
- The Wittgensdorf district library will be open as normal on Friday 22 and 29 December.
- The Klaffenbach circulation desk will be closed on Thursday, 28 December
- The Röhrsdorf circulation desk will be open on Thursday, 21 and 28 December
Adult Education Centre
The Chemnitz Adult Education Centre will be closed from Wednesday, 20 December up to and including Friday, 5 January. No personal registrations, consultations or events will take place during this time. The Adult Education Centre will reopen regularly from Monday 8 January.
Museum of Natural History Chemnitz
The Museum of Natural History is open regularly between the public holidays. It is closed on 24 and 31 December. On 25 and 26 December and 1 January it will be open from 10 am to 6 pm.
Music school
The municipal music school will be closed from 27 December to 1 January.
There will be no office hours during this time. The music school will be open again from 2 January. Due to the school holidays, office hours will take place on 2 January from 10 am to 12 noon.
City Archive
All City Archive locations will be closed to the public from 21 December to 5 January.
Chemnitz Art Collections
The art collections on Theaterplatz, the Gunzenhauser Museum and the Schloßbergmuseum are open regularly between the holidays. They are closed on 24 and 31 December. On 25 and 26 December and 1 January, they are open regularly from 11 am to 6 pm.
Zoo and wildlife park
Chemnitz Zoo and Oberrabenstein Wildlife Park have reduced opening hours on 24 and 31 December, both are open from 9 am to 2 pm, last admission 1 pm.
On all other days as well as on 25 and 26 December and 1 January, the zoo is open daily from 9 am to 4 pm, last admission is 3 pm.
Chemnitz Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden on Leipziger Straße closes at 12 noon on 24 and 31 December.
On all other days it is open regularly from 8 am to 4 pm.
