Open Sundays decided for 2022

At its meeting today, Chemnitz City Council decided that there will be a total of five Sundays open for business this year. The dates are:

  • On Sunday, 29 May 2022, in the city centre district
    In the city centre area, bordered by Theaterstraße, Brückenstraße and Bahnhofstraße, sales outlets may open between 12 noon and 6 p.m. on the occasion of the "Hat Festival".
  • On Sunday, 9 October 2022, in the Röhrsdorf district
    Limited to the sales outlets of the Chemnitz Center, Chemnitz-Park Röhrsdorf industrial estate, Chemnitzer Straße 2 and 6, sales outlets may open between 12 noon and 6 p.m. on the occasion of the "30th anniversary fair of the Chemnitz Center".
  • On Sunday, 16 October 2022, in the Hilbersdorf district
    Limited to Sachsen-Allee, sales outlets may open between 12 noon and 6 p.m. on the occasion of "25 years of SACHSEN-ALLEE".
  • On Sunday, 27 November 2022, in the Zentrum district
    In the city centre district, sales outlets may open between 12 noon and 6 pm on the occasion of the Chemnitz Christmas Market.
  • On Sunday, 11 December 2022, in the city centre district
    In the city centre district, sales outlets may open between 12 noon and 6 p.m. on the occasion of the Chemnitz Christmas Market.

The regulation is based on the Saxon Shop Opening Act, which authorises the opening of sales outlets on special occasions.
