Open sports Sunday for families
Kick-off event on 18 September, from 10 am to 12 noon at the sports hall of the Untere Luisenschule, Fritz-Matschke-Straße 21
On Sunday, 18 September, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, the City of Chemnitz Health Department invites you to the kick-off event of the "Open Sports Sunday for Families" project at and in the sports hall at the Untere Luisenschule, Fritz-Matschke-Straße 21. The exercise programme is aimed at children, young people and their parents.
Participation is free of charge and possible without prior registration. Further information can be found at: www.chemnitz.de/offenersportsonntag
In addition to the exercise programme in and in front of the sports hall, there will also be a small supporting programme on this day. This includes an activity stand on nutrition and a "Kitchen Forest Tour with Ida Igel", starting at 10.30 a.m., which will be accompanied by the project's exercise instructors.
The project, initiated by the Health Department of the City of Chemnitz, working group "Healthy Chemnitz", and sponsored by Techniker Krankenkasse, takes place regularly every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the sports hall at the Untere Luisenschule and is to be extended to other parts of the city.
Alexander Krauß, head of the Saxony regional office of Techniker Krankenkasse: "Unfortunately, for many children, everyday life is all about school, computers and television. Yet exercise is immensely important - not only to stay healthy, but also to improve mental performance. This prevention programme is also perfect for families to do something together at the weekend, do something for their well-being and have fun at the same time."
