Open reading stage: Longing for peace III
Chemnitz City Library: Read and let read on 11 November, from 3 to 6 p.m., TIETZ
On Saturday, 11 November, from 3 to 6 pm, the Chemnitz City Library, the Ent_Rüstet formation and the Buntmacher*innen invite everyone to an open reading stage entitled "Sehnsucht Frieden III" (Longing for Peace III) at the TIETZ to bring along, read and share their own and others' texts on the topic of peace. 11 November 1918 was Armistice Day after the First World War.
Admission is free. The order of reading will be determined by drawing lots. No pre-booking is required. The maximum reading time should not exceed seven minutes. The evening will be hosted by Ulrike Brummert, Uwe Hastreiter and Margit Mothes. The readings will be accompanied musically by Chemnitz songwriter Peter Piek.
The longing for peace spans the entire world. And yet, wars run through the entire history of mankind. The Russian war of aggression, for example, which has been raging with horror and destruction in Ukraine since 24 February 2022, is plunging people into injury, illness, suffering and death. Specifically at the theatre of war. And generally in bewilderment at the usurpation of power and mutilation of humanity. So what can we do? A war cannot be ended by ignoring it. And yet, wars are not natural disasters, wars are man-made. Everything man-made can also be stopped again. This is the reason for confidence in all dialectics.
In "Sehnsucht Frieden I and II", texts and songs were presented for reflection and hope, pieces from the time of the Thirty Years' War to the present day.
