Open Data Portal of the City of Chemnitz goes live
Invitation to the photo session: Tuesday, 7 March at 2.30 pm in the Chamber Hall of the IHK
Mayor Sven Schulze will launch the City of Chemnitz's open data portal http://portal-chemnitz.opendata.arcgis.com tomorrow, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 at 2.30 pm as part of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce's event "Open Data: Creating value with open data". The event will take place in the Chamber Hall of the Chemnitz Chamber of Industry and Commerce at Straße der Nationen 25. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to this event.
This makes Chemnitz the second independent city in Saxony after Leipzig to provide data for free use via a platform of this kind. Due to the standardised access and usage conditions, the same technical platform is used as Berlin, Bonn, Bremen, Cologne and some federal states. This provides interested parties with a standardised access route to the data. Further data will be integrated step by step.
At the same time, the newly designed themed city map will be launched at www.chemnitz.de, which includes the visualisation of this data on a map.
Background:
On 25 January 2017, the German government passed the Open Data Act. This means that data that is collected in electronic form at all administrative levels in Germany is to be published for free use. Of course, this excludes all personal or personally identifiable data or other data worthy of protection.
