Open Call: Call for Chemnitz artists

Chemnitz wants to become European Capital of Culture 2025 - with an open-air exhibition "Chemnitz2025 Gallery", culture should also be made possible in times like these

We are currently experiencing a lot of creativity for digital cultural offerings. And yet it would be nice to take our eyes off the screen again and experience art offline. The Chemnitz2025 team therefore wants to create an open-air exhibition Chemnitz2025, which can be experienced in walks through the city at the end of May: on Citylight posters.

We are looking for pictures, graphics, photos, posters, comics or illustrations that can be printed as posters and thus brought to life in the city. The project website also provides an overview of all the works, introduces the respective artists and links to a direct contact so that interested parties can also become art buyers. The link to the website is displayed on all posters via a QR code.

In this way, the people of Chemnitz are invited to discover the artistic diversity that is at home in the city during their everyday walks or springtime strolls. At the same time, up to 50 different posters will be used to create a public exhibition of the work of Chemnitz's creatives.

Works of any genre can be submitted - everything that the archives of Chemnitz artists have to offer: Graphics or paintings, production posters or concert photos, fashion sketches or caricatures...

A jury will select the three most exciting works from all submissions and award 1500 euros for the first prize, 1000 euros for the second prize and 500 euros for the third prize. All other entrants (up to 50) whose work is selected by the jury for the open-air exhibition will receive 100 euros.

An audience prize of 1500 euros will also be awarded via online voting.

Entries should be submitted as a printable file by 29 April at the latest, along with a short artist biography (maximum 500 characters) and a link (e.g. to the website, Facebook page or Instagram profile...) or send an email contact to: umfrage(at)stadt-chemnitz.de
