Creating favourite places for Chemnitz2025
Communities create places and places create community - that was the idea behind "Nimm Platz". Chemnitz residents were invited to fill unused areas or squares with their own ideas. We want to select the five most popular ideas from all the suggestions by means of online voting by 30 July and implement them together with the citizens in 2019.
We received a total of 25 project proposals, not all of which can be realised immediately. Some projects have been postponed until next year because agreements still need to be reached with property owners or important stakeholders will not be available again until 2020. Another project dealt with Rosenplatz, for example, where there are already concrete plans for the redesign, which are now being compared with the ideas. And other proposals were too big to even come close to realising them for 2025 euros, such as the idea of installing a grand piano for concerts on a footbridge in the castle pond. Nonetheless, such ideas naturally remain in the pool of ideas, even if they cannot currently be realised.

A budget of 2025 euros is available per place. A sum that makes personal initiative both possible and necessary. The aim is to create a joint project that unites many talents.
In this way, five new squares are to be designed every year from now on, at least 25 by 2025, ideally located in all parts of the city.
Some perhaps for a long time, others only temporarily - but each as an opportunity for encounters and enjoyment, as an expression of the city's creativity and maker mentality, as a sign of: #2025TogetherOutside
