Online start for the winter semester programme

Chemnitz Adult Education Centre: Courses open from 19 June, 10 a.m.

On Monday, 19 June at 10 a.m., Chemnitz Adult Education Centre will publish its new programme with all courses for the 2023 winter semester online at www.vhs-chemnitz.de.

The Chemnitz Adult Education Centre's winter semester begins on Monday, 4 September 2023 and runs until 1 March 2024. Interested parties can browse for and book their desired courses as early as eleven weeks before the start of the semester.

Focus on a variety of topics
The winter semester programme focuses on topics from all subject areas. For example, eleven courses deal with the topic of volunteering. These provide interested parties with guidance, highlight opportunities for voluntary work or give people who are already involved in voluntary work practical tips for their work. A special focus in the coming semester will be on the topic of "Growing older in Chemnitz". This will cover many aspects of ageing - health and vitality, but also coping with illness and grief.
The Department of Art and Culture is devoting particular attention to photography in the winter semester. A variety of courses will focus on the diverse techniques and motifs. The spectrum ranges from analogue to mobile phone photography. The smartphone as a digital everyday companion is a kind of symbol for the advancing digitalisation of many areas of life. This will also be addressed again at the adult education centre from September - for example on the complexes of smart home, smart health and artificial intelligence.
New ground will also be broken in the area of foreign languages. For example, there will be an opportunity to learn the Northern Sami language, which is spoken in large parts of Lapland.
Ukrainian, Hebrew and Dutch are also new additions to the programme. In total, there will be
25 languages to explore in the coming adult education centre semester.

Secure your place on your favourite course now - come what may
As always, it is advisable to secure a place on your favourite course now. Even if something comes up at short notice, registered participants can remain relaxed - cancellations can be made free of charge up to six working days before the start of the course.
Also important: those who register in good time not only secure their own place, but also help to make the course itself possible.

The Adult Education Centre motto: Good to know!
The concise and common expression "good to know" summarises the entire approach of the Adult Education Centre's work. Learning is not just an end in itself. The acquisition of knowledge and skills only becomes valuable through their utilisation. This usually becomes apparent when the skills learnt are put into practice. Acquiring knowledge also means developing oneself. Learning broadens horizons, opens up perspectives, reveals connections and provides impetus. Last but not least, learning is always a challenge to overcome thresholds and an opportunity to grow through tasks and exercises. All this makes knowledge good.
With this in mind, Chemnitz Adult Education Centre is constantly working to offer an interesting, varied and up-to-date programme of courses. It should arouse curiosity and convey the joy of lifelong learning.
