Online service of the registration authority extended: Reserve your preferred licence plate online now
Vehicle-related services can now also be carried out online in the City of Chemnitz service portal. In addition to the initial registration of a vehicle, this also includes registrations, deregistrations and re-registrations. Changes to the vehicle technology or name and address changes can also be prepared on the computer.
The service portal, which also contains the forms for the current 315 processes, can be found on the City of Chemnitz website at www.chemnitz.de/dienstleistungsportal.
Submit application data in advance
How it works: The online service offers the option of submitting application data for vehicle registration electronically in advance to the registration authority of the City of Chemnitz and arranging a preferred appointment at the authority. This speeds up the process and reduces waiting times on site.
It is also possible to reserve special licence plates online. Combinations of two letters and two to four digits are available. Licence plates with four digits have been issued since the end of November. The licence plate pool with a maximum of three digits was sufficient for the vehicle population of the city of Chemnitz. With the four-digit number sequence, however, Chemnitz vehicle owners have more options for finding a suitable licence plate.
There are currently 148,280 vehicles registered in Chemnitz.
