Online course for parents on cyber grooming and sexual boundary violations on the internet

VHS@home on 27 May, from 6.45 to 8.15 pm

The adult education centre is hosting an online event on Thursday 27 May from 6.45 to 8.15 pm. The event will discuss cyber grooming and how children and young people can be sensitised to the dangers of initiating contact online. The typical behaviour of potential perpetrators will be shown and tips and advice will be given on how children and young people can be empowered and equipped to protect themselves against such contacts. The course shows what adults should look out for and what options are available in the event of an incident. Participation is free of charge.

Anyone interested can register at www.vhs-chemnitz.de by 3 p.m. on 27 May and will then receive an access link by email.

Beautiful moments are quickly shared on the Internet and visible to many people, some of whom are strangers. Young people feel flattered by compliments from strangers. They build up trust in the person and hope for recognition and understanding through further pictures and intensive contact. For potential offenders, access to photos is easy and the hurdles of downloading, saving and sharing images are easy to overcome.

This event is a cooperation between SAEK Chemnitz and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre as part of the "medienkundig" course series.
