"On the beds, get set, go!" - Building raised beds
Registration of children and young people with family until 29 September
"On the beds, get set, go!" is the motto for the coming weeks at the Museum für Naturkunde. Children and young people and their families can register to build raised beds until 29 September. Raised beds will be created in a joint project - for your own home and for community gardens in Chemnitz.
Design your own green oasis and the city you live in!
On 2 October 2021, the starting signal will be given in the UniPaRadieschen community garden. Interested parties will find out why raised beds have become an integral part of gardens and explore special friendships in a bed: which plant species like each other and which are on a war footing?
Together with Holzkombinat e. V., the participants will later test their manual skills and realise the individually planned raised bed for the balcony or garden with the family. A second raised bed can be built for community gardens in Chemnitz, for example, making the urban living space a little greener for everyone.
The outdoor area of the Museum of Natural History "Window into the Earth's History" shows how the raised beds are filled. We will also explore nature together 291 million years ago, when a volcano erupted in Chemnitz and its ashes buried a primeval forest.
Participation is only possible by pre-registration by 29 September, either by e-mail: ehle(at)naturkunde-chemnitz.de or by calling 0371 488 4555.
Admission is free.
This measure is co-financed with taxpayers' money on the basis of the Catching up after Corona action programme for children and young people.
