Official household survey
Microcensus of the European Union 2021
As every year, the annual official household survey "Microcensus" will be conducted in the Free State of Saxony in 2021, as in the whole of Germany, on the basis of the Microcensus Act.
Over the course of the year, approximately 20,000 households in the Free State of Saxony will be interviewed by survey officers from the State Statistical Office about their household, family and employment situation. Questions are also asked about the households' housing situation. The 2021 microcensus also includes questions on labour market participation, income, living conditions, internet use and health status. Households are included that have been selected using a mathematical-statistical random procedure. There is a legal obligation to provide information for each selected household.
The survey is announced to the households in writing. Respondents can be interviewed by telephone by trained survey officers or complete the microcensus questionnaire themselves online or on paper.
The survey officers of the State Statistical Office can legitimise themselves with a special ID card from the State Statistical Office and are bound by data protection regulations. All information collected is subject to the strictest confidentiality. The individual details obtained are used exclusively for the purposes specified by law.
The statistical results from the microcensus surveys in Saxony are available to all interested parties via the publications of the State Statistical Office.
