The Chemnitz Official Gazette will be published on Wednesdays for the last time today. From 17 February 2017, it will be published on Fridays in future.

The official gazette of the City of Chemnitz is used for the publication of legally required notices. This is regulated in the publication statutes (current status July 2014). Laws and ordinances come into force when they are published in the official gazette. In addition to the official section, it also contains an editorial section that reports on city events.

The official gazette is published weekly by the press office of the City of Chemnitz and has a print run of 130,000 copies. The official gazette is available to all households free of charge and is distributed via letterboxes. It is also available to pick up at public locations such as the city's town halls and citizen service centres.

The official gazette is also available online at www.chemnitz.de in two versions: a designed version as a PDF file, which corresponds to the newspaper edition, and a text-only version. This text version (Word file) is particularly suitable for visually impaired and blind people.

The official gazette no. 1 was published in the first year 1990 on behalf of the city of Karl-Marx-Stadt.
