Oberrabensteiner Straße playground renovated

Inauguration with residents' party on 29 April, from 10 a.m.

The renovation of the Oberrabensteiner Straße playground has been completed. The facility will be inaugurated on Saturday, 29 April 2017, from 10 a.m. with a residents' party.

The existing climbing frame, which was closed for safety reasons, was dismantled and a new climbing hexagon was rebuilt in the same place. A new planting area has been created in the neighbouring slab area to improve fall protection. The existing table tennis table was placed in the centre of the paved area.

Originally, the playground was to be dismantled according to the playground concept, but several local residents lobbied the Parks Department against this. As a result, a residents' association took over the cleaning and maintenance of the facility on several occasions and intends to continue doing so.

With the construction of the new playground at Rabenstein primary school, the play area in Carlowitzpark was removed and the Oberrabensteiner Straße playground was renovated instead.

The construction costs totalled approx. 14,500 euros. The planning was carried out by landscape architects from the Parks Department. The work was carried out by Gruenbau Ltd, Bad Schlema.
