NUMIC winners' route leads from Zeisigwald to the Sportforum
Invitation to the press event: 2 July, 9 a.m., start at the Zeisigwaldstraße/ Heinrich-Schütz-Straße junction
On Thursday, 2 July at 9 am, Mayor Michael Stötzer invites you to a press event on the winning route from Zeisigwald to Sportforum. The meeting point and start is at the junction of Zeisigwaldstraße and Heinrich-Schütz-Straße.
265 people from Chemnitz took part in the decision on the NUMIC model route for cycling and walking from 3 to 30 June. A clear majority voted in favour of the route from the Zeisigwald clinics through the Yorck area, Gablenz and Bernsdorf to the Sportforum. The city of Chemnitz will immediately start planning the route in more detail.
During the vote on the numic.city participation platform, participants added helpful tips to the routes in the comment columns. The NUMIC project team from the city and Chemnitz University of Technology also surveyed Chemnitz residents directly at the market. Both online and offline, all participants had to give the routes three stars each.
The calculated result:
1st Route C (Zeisigwald-Sportforum) 303 stars
2nd Route B (Campus Centre) 256 stars
3. route A (Josephinenplatz-Centre) 223 stars
The selected route will be developed by spring 2021. Detailed analyses and planning will begin immediately. The project consortium will begin with a technical inspection of the route on Thursday, 2 July.
Once the local framework conditions have been clarified, a further round of participa
participation round will be launched on numic.city in late summer: In an ideas competition, the people of
Chemnitz residents will help decide on some additional elements for the design of the model route. The aim is to make the route more attractive and user-friendly for cyclists and pedestrians.
The interdisciplinary research project NUMIC is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The TU Dresden, Fraunhofer IAO and Innosabi GmbH are also involved in the project. Information on the current project status can be found at numic.city or chemnitz.de/numic
