NUMIC - New urban mobility awareness in Chemnitz
Citizen satisfaction through participation in urban development changes and the development of sustainable mobility behaviour
The project "NUMIC - New Urban Mobility Awareness in Chemnitz" aims to contribute to changing the choice of means of transport and the transport behaviour of the Chemnitz population. The project is being realised in collaboration with project partners from business and science and is coordinated by the City of Chemnitz.
Together with citizens, an exemplary model route for walking and cycling will be developed and investigated away from the congested main roads in the city centre. A transferable approach to the development of urban mobility solutions as a contribution to sustainable urban development is to be derived from these results.
The integrated research and development approach of NUMIC aims to improve the quality of life of citizens in the city: through attractive and sustainable mobility concepts, the removal of urban planning barriers as well as barriers for less mobile population groups and the design of spaces for communal appropriation, integration and the experience of the city.
