NUMIC 2.0 research project on the home straight

Closing event on 20 March

On Thursday, 20 March, the "NUMIC 2.0 - New Urban Mobility Awareness in Chemnitz" project team will present and discuss its experiences and results with invited experts from science and (municipal) practice. The event, entitled "Successful participation in urban and transport planning", also heralds the conclusion of the research project. It officially ends on 30 May 2025.

The results of the event will be documented and subsequently made available on the project website. In addition, as in the previous project, a handbook will be published online and freely accessible until the end of the project, containing the most important empirical values. To summarise in advance: even if the topics to be discussed were controversial and the differences of opinion were sometimes great, it always proved to be profitable to sit down at the (planning) table with all those involved and to try out new approaches and formats - for greater acceptance of results and a shared future in Chemnitz.

NUMIC 2.0, a collaboration between the City of Chemnitz and Chemnitz University of Technology, began in December 2022 and has been researching citizen participation in transport planning ever since. The basic idea: improved participation promises a new exchange between citizens and administration in planning and increases sustainable mobility awareness. To this end, new formats (such as virtual reality technologies) were trialled in Chemnitz.

With NUMIC 2.0, the joint NUMIC project of the City of Chemnitz and Chemnitz University of Technology was continued and strengthened. The project is funded by the funding programme

"Socio-ecological research" programme of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
