NUMIC 2.0 research project completed

After more than three years of intensive collaboration in the course of NUMIC 2.0 - and a further three years in the predecessor project - this cooperation between the City of Chemnitz and Chemnitz University of Technology came to an end on 30 May. However, the transfer of knowledge, the stabilisation and the impact of the experience gained on public participation in transport planning and its research will not end.

With this in mind, the results of the final event on 20 March entitled "Successful participation in urban and transport planning" can be found at www.chemnitz.de/numic have been published. In addition, an explanatory video has been published that conveys the interplay between citizen participation and transport planning as well as key project findings (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyvbLrc-9U4 ).

Finally, a freely accessible handout is to be published online by Chemnitz University of Technology. It summarises the most important empirical values from NUMIC 2.0.

The NUMIC 2.0 project began in December 2022 with the basic idea that improved participation processes would enable a new, constructive exchange between citizens and the administration - and at the same time promote a more sustainable awareness of mobility. New formats such as virtual reality technologies were trialled in Chemnitz.
With NUMIC 2.0, the joint project between the City of Chemnitz and Chemnitz University of Technology has been continued and strengthened. The project was funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space as part of the "Socio-ecological research" funding programme, managed by the DLR Project Management Agency.
