Novel about regicide at the time of the Seven Years' War
City Library: Reading with Hans Pleschinksi on 25 October, 7 p.m., TIETZ event hall
On Wednesday, 25 October, from 7 pm, author Hans Pleschinski will read from his novel "Der Flakon" in the TIETZ event hall. Admission is free. Afterwards, he will enter into dialogue with the audience.

In August 1756, the Prussian King Frederick II invades Saxony without a declaration of war. Frederick Augustus, ruler of Saxony and Poland, and his Prime Minister Heinrich von Brühl flee to Warsaw. The Saxon army, far inferior to the highly armed Prussians, is forced to surrender. But the Countess of Brühl, who has remained in Dresden, does not surrender. She forges a plan. Disguised by a pseudonym, she sets off for Leipzig, where the Prussian king and occupier is holding his audiences. Can she change history and end a war with one courageous act?
The author:
Hans Pleschinski, who is considered a great connoisseur of the 18th century, has written an enjoyable and witty novel that can be read as a "captivating anti-war novel" (K. Großmann) between historical thriller and cultural history with many ironic references to today. Pleschinski, born in 1956, lives as a freelance author in Munich.
