Noise barrier Südring from Neefestraße to Bahnstraße

On Monday, 21 March 2016, construction work will begin on a noise barrier on the Südring from Neefestraße in the direction of Zwickauer Straße.
As part of the implementation of a supplementary planning approval decision from 2012, the construction of a noise barrier along the future Südverbund Part III is required. It will be realised as a highly absorbent wall up to Bahnstraße with heights of up to 5.50 m.
The existing reflective, shorter and lower noise barrier (140 metres long, 3 metres or 3.5 metres high) will be dismantled. The new wall will be 209 metres long. To the north, the new noise barrier connects to the noise barrier to be built later in the southern section III. The edge fields are technically dimensioned and designed in such a way that the wall elements can be continued at a later date. The upper end of the wall elements and the joints are designed to be parallel to the gradient. The concrete elements and the base elements are made of reinforced concrete with colouring.
The construction work includes the demolition of the existing noise protection wall of approx. 500 m² and the new construction of approx. 1200 m² of wall surface. The construction costs amount to around 410,000 euros. This project is being subsidised by the Free State of Saxony to the tune of 75% as part of the municipal road and bridge construction programme.
The company FASA AG Chemnitz was commissioned with the realisation of the project.
The construction work will be carried out with one lane restricted. Diversions are not necessary. Completion of the project is planned for the end of July 2016.
