No mountain parade on 27 November
City cancels event - decision on Christmas market pending
Against the backdrop of the dynamic infection situation, there will be no mining parade in Chemnitz this year. The mining parade was originally planned for Saturday 27 November. Lord Mayor Sven Schulze: "As a city, we are taking our responsibility seriously and are trying to avoid unnecessary contacts through major events in view of the rising number of infections."
However, today's decision has no influence on the current structure of the Christmas markets, emphasises Sven Schulze: "In contrast to the high-traffic individual events, the streams of visitors are better distributed at the Christmas markets and are therefore easier to control. Nevertheless, we are currently also taking additional safety precautions here to avoid concentrations."
There is still agreement on this approach at local authority level: this year's mountain parade will not take place in Dresden either.
