News from the zoo: The seven little goats are the first offspring of the year
Shortly before the turn of the year and at the beginning of the new year, four dwarf goats had offspring. Three mothers gave birth to two kids each, a black one with a white mouth and five brown pied ones. The seventh kid was born on 10 January, a brown kid with a broad white belly stripe.
All seven kids are healthy and lively and are jumping around the farmyard enclosure. Thanks to the spring-like weather so far, the young animals can already be marvelled at in the petting enclosure in the fresh air. Due to their curiosity about their environment, they also dare to come close to visitors and, with a bit of luck, they even let themselves be stroked.
The cubs stay with their mothers for up to five months and are suckled by them. In the first few days, the cubs still drink almost every hour.
