News from the zoo: Somali wild ass offspring

The cub season at the zoo has begun. On 13 April, male offspring were born to the Somali wild asses. Mum and baby are doing well and can be seen together with the other animals in the herd in the outdoor enclosure. (Photo: Anja Dube / Tierpark)
The mother mare "Sabah" comes from Tierpark Berlin and has lived at the zoo since 2002, where she has successfully reared seven foals since then.
Wild asses are the ancestor of our domestic donkeys and are now one of the most endangered animal species. They are only kept in a few German zoos and animal parks.

08:00 to 18:00
