News from the zoo: New arrivals at the flamingos
Eighth DRK blood donation day on Sunday
This week, the zoo received ten young pink flamingos from a private zoo in Austria. Breeding this species of flamingo is not very common. The animals therefore had to be purchased. The "Tierparkfreunde Chemnitz e. V." association donated the animals to the zoo. The conversion of the former white stork enclosure into an extension of the existing flamingo enclosure was also financed by the Friends' Association. The zoo would like to take this opportunity to express its sincere thanks. Renovation of the old flamingo house and the addition of a second room, as anchored in the zoo concept, are to be carried out via the municipal budget and are planned for the coming years.
Anyone who is curious about the new inhabitants of the zoo and would also like to donate blood should come to the zoo on Sunday. On this day, the DRK Blood Donor Service North-East and the zoo are inviting people to donate blood for the eighth time. All donors on this day will receive a refund of the entrance fee for themselves and an accompanying child after donating blood in the zoo school, as well as a snack voucher. There will also be another attractive programme.
Donations can be made from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the zoo school, please bring your ID with you when donating blood! Further information can be found at www.tierpark-chemnitz.de and www.blutspende.de.
