Offspring of many animal species, new walk-in petting enclosure and game park day
Visitors to Chemnitz Zoo can currently marvel at the offspring of many animal species.
In addition to the now large herd of goats in the petting enclosure, there is a wild horse foal (Przewalski) for the second time. The smallest foal is only two weeks old.
The emu cock proudly shows off his hatched chick, which is now two months old, to visitors. The chick is very lively and loves to dash wildly around its enclosure.
The snowy owl chicks have also grown. They are now almost as big as their parents and are in the final stages of changing their plumage. They are still being fed, but are already exploring their aviary on their own.
The "farm" also has a new walk-in petting enclosure with new animals, the mini pigs "Ehrmann" and "Almi". Children can climb up a ladder into the enclosure to stroke and brush them. The automatic feeder for the goats was moved to a different location so that the pigs cannot be overfed with pellets.

The female lynx is currently looking after a little lynx girl. She is around eleven weeks old and may show herself to visitors for the first time during the lynx show feeding on "Wildlife Park Day" on 20 August 2017.
On this day, many small activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. under the motto "Our bees, busy little lynxes", such as a colouring table, fire brigade snacks, pony rides, honey sales, handicrafts and an information stand about antlers. The "Wildgattertag" is organised by the association "Tierparkfreunde Chemnitz e.V./Wildgatter".
There were also young mouflon, red deer, fallow deer and wild boar in the game enclosure.
