New waste prevention concept under development
Environmental agency calls on interested parties to get involved
Since mid-August, the City of Chemnitz, funded by the Free State of Saxony, has created the position of a project manager in the Environmental Office, Lower Waste Authority Department, to develop a zero-waste concept (zero = zero, waste = waste/waste) for the municipality.
Initially limited to one year, an impact-orientated waste prevention concept is to be developed in cooperation with companies and the public. Based on an analysis of the current situation in Chemnitz, goals are to be formulated and concrete projects and measures derived from them.
The focal points are
- Increased waste avoidance as a municipal task and as a contribution to energy saving,
- Supporting new consumption concepts (unpackaged shops, second-hand goods exchanges, etc.),
- Development of strategies for start-up investments in specific projects,
- Identifying opportunities for support in the form of start-up aid (initial equipment, tool procurement, etc.),
- Identifying current good practice measures and projects and their potential for further development,
- Establishment of a "Zero Waste Chemnitz" network,
- Active public relations work in various communication formats on the general content, but also for the ongoing presentation of the strategy pursued, the planned individual steps/measures and their evaluation.
In order to provide as broad a basis as possible for active participation in this ambitious project, all citizens, companies, authorities and associations can contact the Environmental Agency with immediate effect.
All interested parties can suggest their involvement and/or present new ideas and projects (including existing ones) by post, electronically by e-mail or by telephone. You are also welcome to make an appointment for a personal meeting.
