New urban mobility awareness in Chemnitz

Second survey in the city centre - from 10 to 16 February

For the project "NUMIC - New Urban Mobility Consciousness in Chemnitz", funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, employees of Chemnitz University of Technology will once again be out and about in the city centre around the market during the week from 10 to 16 February, surveying Chemnitz residents.

The aim of this survey is to ascertain specific requirements for (future) mobility in Chemnitz and design options for cycle paths and footpaths. To this end, the interviewers will ask seven questions, which will be recorded using a tablet. The interviews last approx. 10 to 25 minutes.

In December 2019, the first survey was conducted in Chemnitz city centre, in which satisfaction with the infrastructure and mobility in Chemnitz was surveyed. The results showed that there is a need for improvement in terms of cycling infrastructure and traffic volumes.

The NUMIC project aims to contribute to changing the choice of means of transport and the transport behaviour of the Chemnitz population. The project is being realised in collaboration with project partners from the worlds of business and science, with the City of Chemnitz coordinating the project. Urban development changes and sustainable transport concepts are to be developed together with citizens.
