Photo session: on 2 September, 10 a.m., Chemnitz City Hall, City Council Chamber

Personnel Mayor Sven Schulze will welcome 48 new trainees and students of Chemnitz City Council on Monday, 2 September at 10 a.m. in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to this event.

A total of around 1000 applications were received for the advertised training occupations.

This year, 16 young people are starting their training as administrative assistants. In addition, four office management clerks, three emergency paramedics, four gardeners and one specialist for media and information services will begin their training with the city.

In addition to these vocational training programmes, the city administration also offers the opportunity to study. In addition to five students studying to become social education workers (Bachelor of Arts degree), 15 students will also begin their studies in the higher general administrative service (Bachelor of Laws degree) at the same time as their training begins.

With the new trainees and students, more than 200 young professionals will join the city administration in September 2019.

The range of municipal apprenticeships on offer is based on demand and can therefore vary from year to year. In the administrative professions in particular, the chances of being taken on as an employee are very high, as more than 1,200 employees will be leaving the city administration over the next ten years due to retirement.
