New surface for Lohrstraße bridge over the Chemnitz
Bridge closed for one month from 2 September
Construction work on the Lohrstraße bridge over the Chemnitz will begin on Monday, 2 September. The bridge will be given a new non-slip surface.
Following information from Chemnitz residents, the existing surface was inspected and the result was that the prescribed slip resistance of the bridge surface was no longer given. The service life of the pavement used (reaction resin-bonded thin pavement) is generally 15 to 20 years. The Lohrstraße bridge was built in 2001 from two steel deck bridges one behind the other.
The construction time for the new pavement is approximately one month, as it has to harden accordingly. It will not be possible to use the bridge during the construction period. Pedestrians and cyclists are requested to take the diversions via the Müllerstraße bridge, which runs approx. 250 metres to the south.
Completion is scheduled for 2 October at a total cost of approx. 47,000 euros.
