New statutes for the use of sports facilities adopted
At its meeting yesterday, the city council adopted new bylaws on the allocation and use of sports facilities in the city of Chemnitz as well as new bylaws on the charging of fees for their use. They replace the old bylaws from 2020 and are primarily necessary due to the imminent opening of the Bernsdorf swimming pool (indoor swimming pool) and the increased energy costs.
What is new is that the usage times for sports facilities for schools and clubs will be allocated on an ongoing basis and in an online process. In future, school sports facilities can also be used at weekends. The standard opening times for indoor swimming pools will be shortened from 10 pm to 9 pm on weekdays.
The fees for use have also been adjusted. In future, there will be a large and a small family ticket for the pools (depending on the number of adults), both of which are limited to a maximum of three children up to the age of 16 and which are more economical than the individual tariffs from the first child onwards. The group of people entitled to free admission has been extended and the age limit has been removed for schoolchildren and students. Also new are cash value cards, which replace the previous 10-entry cards.
The statutes apply to all sports facilities that are operated and managed by the municipality, such as gymnasiums and sports halls, weight and gymnastics rooms, sports grounds and school sports facilities, as well as indoor and outdoor swimming pools and the sauna in the municipal swimming pool.
Both sets of statutes will come into force on 1 June 2024, with the new fees initially applying to public use of the indoor pools from 1 June 2024. The new fees will only come into force for the use of sports facilities and pools by schools, sports clubs and all other users from 1 January 2025. The new fees for the outdoor pools will apply from the 2025 outdoor pool season.
