New sports field planned for the "Georg Götz" support centre on garage space
At its meeting today, the City Council unanimously decided to use the neighbouring plot of land (plot 169/5 in the Kappel district) for sports facilities in the extended outdoor area of the "Georg Götz", a school specialising in hearing, to use the neighbouring plot of land (parcel 169/5 of the Kappel district). There are currently garages on this plot, which are to be replaced. The decision was made in accordance with the garage concept (B-086/2017).
The parcel of land is owned by the City of Chemnitz. There are two utilisation agreements with garage communities. These were terminated at the end of the year on 31 December 2023 in accordance with the contractually agreed notice period of six months. The costs for the demolition of the garages will be borne by the City of Chemnitz.
The outdoor area of the "Georg Götz" special needs centre, a school with a focus on hearing, is being renovated. The additional municipal property and another private property (parcel 169/7 of the Kappel district) are intended to ensure curriculum-compliant teaching and an appropriate quality of stay for use during breaks and after-school care.
The garages are to be demolished in 2024. The open sports areas are to be constructed in 2025. The corresponding construction decision will be submitted to the city council when the design is finalised.
