New responsibility for authorisation for children at events
From 1 August, the Youth Work Department in the Office for Youth and Family Affairs will issue exemptions for children's participation in events. Until then, the Social Services Department will remain the central point of contact. Permission is required, for example, when children are involved in theatre and music performances, advertising events or film and television recordings. The background to this is the fundamental ban on employing children under the Youth Labour Protection Act.
The application for an exemption licence can be obtained from the trade supervisory office and at www.chemnitz.de (forum and online services). Firstly, the signatures of the family doctor and school must be obtained. After this, the parents must attend the Office for Youth and Family Affairs in person with their child - the application will be processed immediately. The parents then submit the application to the organiser or employer. Finally, the organiser or employer is obliged to apply for the exemption permit from the trade supervisory office.
