New regulations for returning travellers and people entering the country

Free tests in Chemnitz possible after registration by telephone

From Monday, 10 August, there will be new opportunities for travellers returning to and entering Chemnitz to be tested for the new coronavirus.

The following regulations apply:

  • Travellers returning and arriving from a risk area must have a test carried out no later than 72 hours after their return. (The current risk areas are listed here: www.rki.de) A second test is optionally possible.
  • All travellers from risk areas are obliged to report to the public health department immediately.
  • The test is voluntary for travellers entering and returning from non-risk areas.
  • The costs are covered by the health insurance companies.

All persons who need or want to be tested in Chemnitz should register in advance by telephone:

  • Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on 0371 488 5302
  • At the weekend on 116 117

You will be given an appointment and told which documents you need to bring with you.

In order to get an appointment in good time, travellers should make an appointment before or during their trip.

With this offer, the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, the health authority and the hospital are responding to the new regulations issued this week by the federal and state governments.
