New playground opens in Marie-Luise-Pleißner-Park

On Wednesday, 1 June, International Children's Day, at 10 a.m., Mayor Michael Stötzer will inaugurate the newly built playground in Marie-Luise-Pleißner-Park in the Bernsdorf district together with pupils from the Rudolf School.
The new playground, entitled "The Jumping Dot", is an exciting play landscape for children and young people that allows them to experience jumping and climbing in a variety of ways.
One highlight of the facility is the orange-coloured climbing net "Eurythmus", which was designed primarily for children aged eight and over, has an integrated membrane and functions as a trampoline.
Another special feature is the "play band" designed especially for this playground with a boulder wall and an inclined access with a rope to a slide. A small sandpit and a ground-level trampoline complement the large play equipment for younger visitors. For parents, carers and all other visitors, there is high-quality wooden seating that invites them to linger.
Children and young people from local schools were involved in the planning process for this playground and were also allowed to lay the foundation stone. The future users were able to choose one of three proposed activities. The planning office LOR Landschaftsarchitekten Otto+Richter from Dresden developed the concept entitled "The jumping point" from the result "jumping and climbing".
Construction work had already begun in spring 2021 by the construction company Steinbach & Richter GbR Landschaftsgestaltung from Lichtenau/Ottendorf.
The project was due to be completed in June 2021, but various coronavirus-related factors, plan changes and additional services delayed the construction period by a year.
The costs totalled 305,000 euros. Two thirds of the project was funded by the urban redevelopment programme.
Unfortunately, despite being cordoned off, soiling and damage was caused by vandalism even before acceptance and opening. The cleaning costs already amount to approx. 500 euros.
