New play equipment combination on Andréplatz since today
Inauguration planned for Children's Day
A new play equipment combination consisting of a slide, climbing wall and footbridge, wobbly bridge and platforms has been installed on the Andréplatz playground today. Employees from the Lappset company have been working on installing the equipment since yesterday.
The equipment combination is a special design by the play equipment manufacturer Lappset from Viersen. It covers an area of 22 by 12 metres and is suitable for children aged six to 12. The city put the contract out to limited tender and awarded the contract to the play equipment company Lappset.
The play equipment alone costs 50,000 euros. In addition, there are construction costs of 17,000 euros for landscaping for the entire project. All of these costs will be covered by the state as part of the funding for the urban renewal/redevelopment of Kaßberg.
However, the children on the Kaßberg cannot yet use the new play equipment, as it first has to be tested for safety and approved by the TÜV. Once the equipment has been installed, the companies and landscape gardeners involved still have to install the fall protection and restore the paths and green areas.
The new equipment combination is to be handed over on Children's Day on 1 June. (The media will be invited separately. However, photos can already be taken now).
The "construction site" on the playground at Andréplatz has been in existence for several weeks, as the city had previously demolished old and desolate equipment.
The playground at Andréplatz measures around 400 square metres in total. There are still spring animals and a sandpit for smaller children. The city would also like to have this toddler area renovated this year for the youngest children. This renovation will also be coordinated with the monument protection authority, as Andréplatz is a listed building.
The city is also renovating numerous municipal playgrounds as part of the "Playground Concept 2015" adopted by the city council in May 2014, including the facilities at Luisenplatz, the "UK" youth club in Helbersdorf and Konkordiapark since March.
