New platform online: www.kulturelle-bildung-chemnitz.de
A new website was launched this afternoon under the auspices of the City of Chemnitz's cultural office: www.kulturelle-bildung-chemnitz.de provides a platform for cultural education programmes and information on providers in the cultural area of the city of Chemnitz. The website was jointly prepared by the Cultural Office and representatives of cultural and educational organisations in Chemnitz, thus fulfilling a wish expressed by educators to the city to provide information and offers in a bundled form. The website is intended to serve not only as a database, but also as a lively platform for finding project partners and initiating new projects.
Mayor Philipp Rochold launched the website today with a press conference and explained: "For the first time, the new site gives interested parties the opportunity to access a bundle of offers in the field of cultural education in Chemnitz online and to search specifically according to various criteria (e.g. class level, topic). For the city, the new platform also offers an opportunity to network stakeholders, as every cultural organiser is represented online with a contact person and can be reached quickly. In Chemnitz, we have a large number of very appealing offers in the field of cultural education, which we can now publicise even better with the help of the website and the extensive database."
More than 80 offers have already been entered into the database for the launch, and more than 20 cultural organisations are presented on the site. According to the Cultural Office, other providers are welcome and invited to contact the Cultural Education Contact Point and expand the network together. It is possible to join the project at any time free of charge. For example, the opportunity to enter suitable cultural offers should be used before the summer holidays begin so that the offers can be included in the schools' annual planning for extracurricular educational activities in good time before the start of the new school year.
The website www.kulturelle-bildung-chemnitz.de is funded by the Saxon State Ministry of Science and the Arts and the City of Chemnitz. In addition to Chemnitz, such a website is already being run successfully in the cultural regions of Dresden, Leipzig, Vogtland-Zwickau and Upper Lusatia-Lower Silesia. In setting up the Chemnitz website, it was therefore possible to benefit not only from the wishes of the cultural and educational organisations, but also from the previous experiences of other cultural areas.
Background: The first access to culture and art is often via a targeted offer in the field of cultural education, e.g. a visit to a museum, a visit to a socio-cultural centre, participation in a low-threshold oriented project of an independent theatre group or a reading promotion event in a public library. These opportunities must receive special support and promotion. Chemnitz has a wide range of cultural education opportunities. These need to be taken up and access to them facilitated. The Cultural Education Contact Centre, which is part of the City of Chemnitz's Cultural Office, sees this as a key focus of its work.
The City of Chemnitz receives approx. 22,500 euros in annual funding from the Free State of Saxony for the entire work of the Contact Centre for Cultural Education and contributes approx. 7,500 euros as its own contribution. The database project is one of the Contact Centre's tasks. The technical design and set-up costs amount to approx. 7,000 euros, the editorial services are provided by the Contact Centre for Cultural Education.
