New parking fee regulations from July
Implementation of parking fee regulations: parking in the city centre becomes cheaper
The tariffs for the new parking fee regulations will be changed at all existing parking ticket machines from 3 July. The new parking fee regulations were adopted by the city council at the city council meeting on 5 April 2017 (resolution B-260/2016).
Two charging zones will apply from July: In charging zone I (core zone), you will be able to park for 40 minutes for 0.50 euros instead of the previous 20 minutes. Each additional 20 minutes will continue to cost 0.50 euros. This will make parking in the city centre a little cheaper, especially for short-term parkers. In the new charging zone II, you will be able to park for €0.50 for the first hour and then for €0.50 for every additional 30 minutes. There is a maximum daily charge of €2.50 in charging zone II for long-term parkers and commuters. The car parks Am Walkgraben, Mühlenstraße/Georgstraße and Johannisplatz, where the tariff for the core area previously applied and which have now been included in zone II and are therefore also available to long-term parkers, are attractive for this target group. However, there is still no maximum daily charge in charging zone I.
Electric vehicles with the appropriate licence plate can be parked free of charge in both charging zones.
The overview map shows the two charging zones as well as all existing managed car parks with a capacity of 20 parking spaces or more, together with the charge level and management period.
The installation of new parking ticket machines in the entire management area is expected to take place in stages over three years and will only begin when the "Johanniskirche" and/or "Wiesenstraße/DASTietz" car parks are no longer required for the new development planned there.
